One day at midnight in early March, a lot of snow fell onto 4th street (in the center of downtown Anchorage) before the Iditarod's start. Start time is 9:00a.m. for the 1st musher. Starting position is drawn by lots. The Mushers have a banquet, draw lots and then they know when they will start. This is Mr.Keizo Funatsu's start. Until Wasilla, they have a passenger as extra weight because the dogs try to run too fast. He used a traditional style sled until Wasilla.
