Born in Switzerland in 1958. His first Iditarod was 1980. For the last 8 years, he has kept in the top 10 with a 1st place finish in 1992 and 1994. He was 2nd in 1995 but everybody knows him as the best humanitarian musher for dogs. His time was 9days 8hours 47miuntes 44sec.. Here, he is driving his dog team for Iditarod. At Iditarod, Doug Swingley was taking his 24 hour layover (he could not leave Iditarod until night). His Team was so fast.
